3 You can be sure of this: The lord set apart the godly for himself. The lord will answer when I call to him.
Psalms 4:3
It is amazing the thoughts of God to those who fear Him.God is so faithful beyond the level we can think. He has never withdrew His hand upon the faithful. It is incomprehensible to think of what God means by”setting apart the godly for Himself”
But convinced to say that this what it means:
1. Separated for divine purpose
There is a reason of choice.God never chose people for godliness without a divine purpose. No power shall stand against the godly to distract them from achieving that very purpose as long as they will remain faithful to the call.It is only sin that has power to distract.
17 But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the lord, have spoken! (Isaiah 54:17)
- Made always-remnants
When every foundation is shaken the godly shall remain. That is what God meant by Setting apart. This a great hope to all faithful christians3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. (Psalms 1:3) - Made a symbol of worship The godly are hereby used by God to proclaim His goodness,They are the very image of God on the planet upon all creation. All men were created in the image of God but not all men are bearing that image.Godly deeds portrays the image of God.All doers of wickedness do not have the image of God(John 8:1-48).It is worth knowing that God is not physically like man.God is a spirit so He can not be having a physical image as of man.But He gave us to be like Him by enabling us to bear some of His communicable attributes(shared attributes)(1John1:7)
- Win attention of God
This is the joy of all believers that by remaining faithful,We win the attention of God.He will be with us in all life situation and comes to our rescue when in peril.During the Exodus God expressed this attribute of mercy and His power to make battles on behalf of the chosen. We can realize that He always never come early nor late for rescue. He perfectly sets in for battle
The lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble.
Psalms 37:39
The Godly never need to fight on their own but God always fights for them and that is the strength.David realized this
David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
1 Samuel 17:45
